J. Spenser Darden

Spenser manages Blue Meridian’s overall Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) plan and associated internal communications. This includes creating and delivering REDI learning materials for staff, supporting REDI facilitators and coaches, and collaborating with consultants. Additionally, Spenser supports Blue Meridian’s strategy to build and sustain a desirable organizational culture.

An accomplished diversity and inclusion champion and leader, Spenser has spent his career in higher education, leveraging his deep knowledge of systemic oppression to create more inclusive, accessible, and equitable practices at complex organizations across the country. Prior to joining Blue Meridian, Spenser served as the inaugural Assistant Dean for Diversity & Inclusion at the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University, where he led the visioning, development, and implementation of a diversity strategic plan, facilitated a diversity learning plan for staff, and provided key advisement to school leadership.

Spenser received his master’s in higher education from the University of Arizona.
