Toni Owens

Graduate Student Affiliate

My name is Toni Owens, and I am a Ph.D. Candidate in the Human & Community Development program, born and raised in Kansas City. I am a licensed social worker and adjunct instructor with work experience in multicultural student affairs and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. After I graduate, I plan to transition to a full-time career that will combine my passions for higher education, social work, and community development. I have been teaching on the collegiate level since 2020 and I completed my certificate in University Teaching in 2021. I am currently a member of the Kansas City Association of Black Social Workers, the K-State Social Work Community Advisory Committee, NAACP, ACLU and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I am a committed advocate that personally and professionally promotes mental/emotional wellness and social justice for all.
