Understanding the Big Picture

WVU’s professional development opportunities provide the big picture perspective faculty members need to grow as professionals and become the leaders of tomorrow.

Understanding this perspective – and, in turn, helping to move the institution forward – is everyone’s responsibility.

Faculty and Leadership Development

The Office of the Provost, in conjunction with other units on campus, hosts multiple trainings and workshops throughout the academic year designed to help faculty learn about current trends in higher education and their impact on WVU’s goals and management. Sessions also focus on developing basic and advanced faculty and leadership skills and the role of equity, diversity and inclusion within a higher education context.

In addition to hands-on workshops and trainings, the Provost’s Office offers recordings of experts addressing “big picture” topics like what it means to be an R1 institution, WVU’s approach to student retention, understanding WVU’s budget and more.
