I've been living in Morgantown, now for almost 9 years (boy does time fly!). My first four years, I was a doctoral student. My last five, I've been a faculty member. As a doc student, I lived in the North Hills area, purposely, so that my daughter would be able to attend North Elementary and my son, Morgantown H.S. Both were fine—very diverse compared to other parts of the county and state. I now live in a modest little subdivision in Cheatlake. It's a different vibe than North Hills and South Park (where a lot of faculty live). I like it, though. I appreciate the physical separation from campus. I have two favorite eateries in Morgantown—TK's and Jamaican Spice. TK does an amazing vegan buffet, Jamaican Spice is simply authentically Jamaican and for me that matters! There are some other worthy mentions, but those are my top 2. A few years ago, Amina's Hair Salon opened up. They offer a variety of services for ethnic hair and are wonderful! There are also some talented independent hairstylists in the area that I"ve used. Feel free to message me for their information. My favorite place to reflect and rejuvenate is by far the scenic outlook at Cooper's Rock. You need this in your life! Ah yes, I forgot to mention, I am an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Ours is the Greater Morgantown Alumnae Chapter. We have activities throughout the year that we'll promote in spaces like this, so be sure to join the network!
